When I was a child growing up in Havana, my father worked as a city bus driver. One of the beautiful perks of his job was that our family could travel anywhere on the island for free. We explored so much of Cuba together. Although my heart always belonged to the quiet countryside, I have to admit there was something magical about visiting the city.

What I loved most was going to Coppelia for a scoop of mantecado ice cream. Sitting there as a little girl, savoring every bite, the world felt simple, joyful, and full of possibility. Life was lighter then — sweeter.

That feeling of nostalgia, warmth, and Cuban pride is exactly what inspires the Havana candle from Essence Home Miami.
